About the Artist

All About Colleen

From a very early age, I've been drawn to cemeteries. My NaNa used to take care of me when I was little and she would take my cousin and I to explore a nearby cemetery as part of our regular walk. My favorite was always the old section where the names were hard to read and the stones were crumbling. I also grew up watching Masterpiece Theatre with my parents and fell in love with Edward Gorey's art by way of the opening sequence from the 90s. I watch mysteries, scary movies, true crime documentaries, read books about forensics, listen to podcasts about true crime and watch YouTube videos by morticians. Being a bit odd and spooky has long been woven through the many aspects of my life and I have fully embraced this very important piece of myself.

It is important to me to both be death positive but also to be an arbiter of knowledge and do my small part to demystify one of the only inevitabilities of this mortal coil. I strive to celebrate other spooky individuals and encourage those who are exploring a burgeoning interest.

I want my creations to be accessible to all who have a fascination for the morbid and mysterious.

About the Process

The pieces are concrete poured into molds. Some small variation and air bubbles are common. The pieces that are made by combining more than one mold or are hand painted could potentially have more variation. Pieces that have significant air bubbles or are too different than other pieces of the same type won't be included, so if you purchase a piece through the Contact form, it will be the same quality as what is pictured on the site.
